Well, times are tough. Our last gig with Camp 15 was so long ago that you barely remember it. The only thing going on was a guarding gig heading up to some ancient castle where seekers ask questions to life’s answers to drop off supplies. It was pretty by the numbers until some sketchy Selune worshipping seeker decided to hitch a ride back. You finally learn that The Smear is more than a racing stripe on the undergarments of this world. It is a dangerous place with dangerous secrets and dangerous creatures and uh…danger. Lots of danger.

WATE1-2 “Dark Secrets of Downshadow” Part 2

Well, that sucked. First off, half of you get kicked out of the club forcing you to sneak in from outside with the help of the two who did get in. (One of you managed to moonwalk up the staircase without a hitch, so what’s up with the rest of you?) Then, rather than plainly get by the dwarven guards who would have paid you no mind, you decide to tempt fate and fight them anyways. Luckily, you were swift with your brand of whatever the opposite of “justice” is and headed into some rank smelling sewers only to have Dark Ones drop kick you into darkness. What else is in store? Where’s this kid? How did he not throw up on the job? And how can you not find a dwarf with 4 tentacles instead of arms in this mess? He’s got four tentacles? (Of course, there’s the nagging question of who in their right mind would come down here with children at all, but then again, it wouldn’t be a mystery if those things were quickly answered.)

The heroes decipher the journal and discover the truth of who is buried in Evard’s crypt, a tale of duplicity, necromancy, possession and revenge.

The heroes are invited to hear the revelations of an aged Vistani seeress. After listening to her tale, the seeress’ house is attacked. Some are greatly affected by their brush with the malignant embrace of the Shadowed, while others are less affected and rise to the challenge.

Where does the trail lead next?

Dark Legacy of Evard - Chapter 1, Session 4

Our heroes are summoned to meet a local priest who advises the heroes to check out suspicious activities in the graveyard on the edge of town, where the intrusion of the Shadowfell seems to have began. He also gives them a holy symbol of the dawn in the idea that it may somehow be useful.

The heroes accept this charge and proceed to the graveyard where they encounter the undead, specifically shades, zombies and ghouls. After a knock-down, drag-out battle, the heroes prevail. They examine a stone crypt that had been magically sealed for an unknown reason, but the seals lie broken and an undisturbed but charred skeleton laid within. A book, perhaps a diary in some unrecognizable script is found as well. Perhaps a clue to the strange events that are plaguing Duponde.
